Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
