The star has revealed that she believes it's no longer appropriate to comment publicly against the Trump presidency, concerned it could intensify divisive discussions and increase separation across the country.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Notes Lawrence

Speaking with media, the Oscar winner reflected, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I felt like I was acting frantically without clear direction. But experience has shown, over multiple voting cycles, celebrities have no real impact in any way on electoral choices.”

The actor went on, “So then what am I doing? I’m just expressing personal views on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions dividing the nation apart.”

Changing Allegiances

The actress has admitted freely about supporting conservative and liberal candidates in past elections. Raised by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election prior to switching to the left-leaning politics and revealing she realized during the Obama era that supporting the GOP was undermining her individual liberties as a woman.

Past Statements

In 2015, she remarked that Trump winning the presidency could represent “the end of the world” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. During the most recent election, she gave her endorsement to the Democratic nominee, “because I believe she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will do whatever she can to protect abortion access.”

Hollywood’s Stance

The star was aligned with most of Hollywood in her disapproval of Donald Trump as a returning figure, but the minimal impact public figures have over the voting intentions was highlighted by Trump’s victory.

“This upcoming term appears changed,” noted she regarding his leadership. “As he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was very clear. And voters made that decision.”

“It feels nice,” she remarked, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “Honestly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What technically are the differences between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
