The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
