Two men have been charged related to a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after getting out of a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A toddler was one of the people hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

This event – described by police as was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
